Rosalba Lingner: It sounds like you were an employee and should only pay the employee part of the SE tax (which last year was less than half). To do that you have to file additional forms as others have said.

Houston Venezia: If you actually were an independent contractor, then you do have to pay the self-employment tax.If you were actually an employee, and he incorrectly recorded you as an independent contractor, when you weren't, then you have the option to file Form SS-8 to avoid paying the self-employment tax.
