If you are having protected sex with someone, is it necessary to get an STD test too?

answers 0:I am seeing this guy, but I have a feeling it's just a summer fling. However, I really like him, we're both consenting adults, and he's very attractive. He told me he had an STD test this month which came out clean (and he seems like an honest guy), and I am very paranoid about STDs. If we had sex, we would (of course) use a condom, but few people use condoms for oral sex anymore. When I asked him if he would get another test, he said he would, but that it was kind of weird to get an STD test when we'd be having protected sex anyway, especially if I'm not his girlfriend. I guess I agreed, but I really do want to have sex with him. What should I do?...Show moreanswers 1:Well...it depends. Even if your partner has a condom on, it is stil! l possible to contract an STD. Condoms don't cover everything and if he has herpes, that can be spread by skin to skin contact. Also, if the condom breaks, you could also be infected. Just stay safe and ask him to get another. Its not a big deal, and it doesn't take much time. If you risk something like this, you may end up regretting it for the rest of your life. Good luck! Hope this helps!answers 2:I'm a female by the way hahaanswers 3:It's the recommended safe sex practice to be tested (BOTH of you) as well as using a condom. The safer the better. If you want to use protection during oral sex, it's pretty easy to make a dental dam out of a folded-over piece of cellophane. Much more comfortable than a condom. That said, there is no reason to be hyper-paranoid. Why are you more paranoid about getting an STD than getting, say, the flu? They're just illnesses, the vast majority of which are curable with antibiotics. Of those that are not: everyone already has herpes, includin! g you, whether or not they've had sex. It's basically part of ! the human genome now. You can vaccinate against about half of the forms of HPV. And if you insist on your partners being tested for AIDS, then keeping in mind there is a 3-6 month latency period, there is no reason to worry about that.By the way, for Joe up there, it is absolutely evil to tell people that condoms do not help prevent the spread of herpes and AIDS, which they DEFINITELY do. They are not absolutely, positively, 100% effective at it, but that is what testing is for. telling people that condoms do not help prevent the spread of AIDS will cause them to have sex without them, thus ENSURING the spread of AIDS, which is why people like Joe are evil, despicable scum, who would rather spread their political/religious ideology than save people's lives....answers 4:YOU DO KNOW that condoms do NOT protect against herpes or aids don't you?Keep playing with fire and you are going to get burned hon, consenting adults or not.answers 5:good decision. convinced it is neverthel! ess necessary to get examined and strong for you at playing it secure. Mono isn't oftentimes a STD and alot of STDs have very nearly no indications for quite a at the same time as.
