Arlene Maycumber: Each state has their own rules in effect as to what title transfer and registration will cost you upon buying a used vehicle. Some go by weight, some go by what the car is worth, some by what you paid. Since you didn't give a location, you won't get an answer. No one is going to give you the link for all 50 states, and Washington DC.
Elmo Tervo: regristation changes from state to state, and you didnt specify which one you live in.....and 1st time after purchasing usually includes a sales tax. if you paid $10k to buy the vehicle it will be higher then if you paid $1k.or, you may able to claim it at a lower price or as a gift if you bought it from friends or family. i've done that before, put half of what was actually paid on the pink slip....Show more
