Frank Gazaway: It is possible. I've heard the Directv DVRs run some sort of Linux OS. I have sent my Directv DVR to http://www.weaknees.com/ and they copied everything off the 300 GB hard drive and on to a 1.5 TB hard drive which then went back in the DVR box. So you might take the hard drive out and then if nothing else, send the old drive and the new DVR to http://www.weaknees.com/ and let them do the copying.
